The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is taking another significant step forward in improving access to affordable dental care. At Avalon Dental, we’re committed to helping our patients stay informed about their options, and we’re pleased to share that starting in May 2025, the CDCP will expand to include more Canadians between the ages of 18 and 64.
If you’ve been waiting for dental coverage, this might be your chance to apply! Here’s everything you need to know about the latest eligibility changes.
Who Is Currently Eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
Right now, the CDCP is available to:
-
Seniors aged 65 and older
-
Children under the age of 18
-
Adults who qualified for the federal Disability Tax Credit in 2023
If you fall into one of these categories, you can already apply for dental coverage.
New Eligibility Starting May 2025
Starting this May, the Canadian government is expanding eligibility to include more adults between the ages of 18 and 64. The application rollout will occur in phases based on age group:
-
May 1, 2025: Canadians aged 55 to 64
-
May 15, 2025: Canadians aged 18 to 34
-
May 29, 2025: Canadians aged 35 to 54
This expansion is a major step toward improving oral health care access for Canadians across the country.
If you’re eligible, we encourage you to apply as soon as your age group becomes available. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to receive high-quality dental care through the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Please Note: Avalon Dental is participating in the CDCP and will take patients covered under the plan.
